[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]
Name: Ferio
Age: Roughly 600, looks about 17.
Gender: male
Canon: Magic Knight Rayearth (manga)
Timeline: Postcanon
Character History:
...this is not a very substantial link. It does, however, give you everything canon has to offer. Ferio is a prince, younger brother to Emeraude who serves as the Pillar for Cefiro: her will and her love for the land itself preserves it and keeps it a beautiful and peaceful country. Him, he didn't have any role that substantial. Presumably he grew up in the palace where he recieved an amount of schooling and training, but he evidently didn't have anything close to his sister's will, and as such never aspired to learn magic, focusing on swordfighting instead.
Later, upon finding out about Emeraude's disappearance, he's shown to on a quest to become a Magic Knight himself in order to help her, but it's stated later that he spent hardly any time in the castle. Here he meets the actual Magic Knights, Hikaru, Umi and Fuu while they're travelling through the pathless Forest of Silence. For a time they form an alliance in which he acts as their bodyguard, but upon leaving the forest, they part ways again. ...and then he pretty much doesn't show up again until the next arc of the manga, all that's said is that he knew when Emeraude died, feeling her relief at having been released from the role of the Pillar.
An unknown amount of time passes, with Cefiro falling apart and the only remaining refuge being the castle itself, upheld mainly by Guru Clef, when the Magic Knights return. Ferio greets them there and relays Emeraude's gratitude to them, and we're treated to some more romantic subplot between him and Fuu.
While the Magic Knights go about defending Cefiro, he spends pretty much all of that time being not that superpowered and therefore stuck doing scouting missions (which are never shown), and he eventually puts his foot down and accompanies the Knights in their search for the Road to the Pillar. On this trip he gets to play bodyguard some more, but once again doesn't get to participate in the big battle - in fact, he is whisked away to the palace.
He is still very much alive post-canon when Hikaru, Umi and Fuu visit Cefiro again, and it appears he is taking an active part in helping the land recover.
Character Personality:
As with everything in Cefiro, appearances are also defined by will: manga canon doesn't say as much, but Ferio quite obviously isn't a teenager. If the 745 year old greatest mage in the country looks like a gradeschool kid, it's not even likely that the prince would look his age. Gamecanon names him 600 years old, which I'll go with in order to not have to pull digits from thin air. So, why look like a teenager? Because, while far removed from a child, he still acts young, spontaneous, occasionally reckless, rarely loses his sense of humor, and never is quite as mature as all that. He lacks the distance that a grownup tends to put between themselves and the world, sometimes acts downright sheepish, and more or less conciously refuses to grow up more than he has to. Oh, and when he fancies someone, he doesn't take an age and a half to think it over (hello, Fuu).
Now, Ferio as a fighter is pretty much dwarved in appearance and importance by magical girls who are also giant robot pilots, seeing as they ARE the main characters in the manga, but none the less: Ferio is a capable fighter. He isn't just brave, he's skilled, very, very strong, and he keeps a level head, a fact that canonically saves him as well as the three girls. He's a tactician, while still being a swordsman, and I think it's the combination that makes him remarkable. Despite living in a world where magic is the most common thing, Ferio doesn't use it. Why? He's never recieved his own magic, which would have to be awakened in him by another magic user, and the only reasonable explanation is that he never wanted it to be. Conciously discarding that much power on principle would have to have a reason, and that would be his sister. All her will gave her basically unlimited power in Cefiro, she clearly had the greatest magical ability in the whole land, so had he chosen that road, he would have only been Emeraude's Little Brother. Neither him nor his sister wanted that. Instead, he practiced fencing. With how much diligence is up to debate, as it's canon that his favorite thing is sleep, but he did turn out fairly strong.
Generally speaking, Ferio is a careful person. While it appears that he leaps right into the middle of danger, he really takes no risks that he isn's confident he can overcome or is conviced are worth taking. He doesn't rush out of the Forest of Silence, nor does he go and challenge the people who invade Cefiro, because he knows better than that. In a similar vein, he knows when subtlety or at least secrecy is called for, he is a fairly bad liar, but secrets are safe with him. It's not something he considers underhanded, in fact, he appreciates cunning when done well and necessary, so he is quite alright with being lied to by Fuu and used as a bodyguard for the three girls, when they fess up later.
All in all he isn't a person who'll run if he can walk. He likes his leisure time, his downtime, doing nothing or napping to his heart's content. This doesn't make him lazy or idle. Ferio is proactive, not content to just laze around when he can change something, given a situation needs changing.
Most of all, it's his caring about other people that triggers him into action. Whether it's Emeraude's perpetual sadness making him leave the castle, or her disappearance making him attempt becoming a Magic Knight himself, or his concern for Fuu, Hikaru and Umi that ultimately makes him want to protect them. It's seen in canon that he is still quite reasonable about his concern, not letting his feelings drive him into recklessness, but carefully considering beforehand. He is always mindful of the wishes of the people involved, seen in the way he respects that Emeraude wished to be the pillar and that the Magic Knights refused to ask him for help in their fight against Alcyone. This might mean that he has faith in another person's judgement too easily.
Despite being royalty, Ferio never once is shown to feel entitled to anything, be it status, respect, wealth or recognition. He is respectful, forgiving and courteous, but at the same time, remains a bit of a troll. Or maybe he just likes making Fuu blush, but in any case, once in a while he enjoys drawing reactions out of people for his own amusement. It's never malicious, and never has been, but Ferio likes a bit of comic relief every once in a while, and is happy to provide given the time is right. He's not goofy by any stretch of the imagination, but overmuch seriousness and angst simply doesn't suit him.
Character Abilities you would like to expand on further:
Levelheadedness, even in the middle of a fight. Swordfighting, with a few centuries worth experience. All sorts of knowledge about surviving in the wild in a variety of environments. Thinks quick on his feet. Sort of hax physical strength, what with his lugging around a huge sword with one hand (think FF7's Cloud). Sleight of hand tricks, to a limited extent. He's... really good with kids? Does that count as an ability?
Character Weaknesses you would like to expand on further:
Well, he's got somewhat of a sister complex, if the similarities between Fuu and Emeraude are any indication. He can just barely lie to save his life, and throughout all the major events in his life, he's had to take a backseat to women with stronger willpower than him, which may make him just a little too willing to take the backseat. He's quick to care about people, which can easily be used against him or to someone else's advantage at least. As said above, he's quick to trust another person's judgement if they're strongwilled enough. Also, he's seen his own country very nearly wiped off the map literally, which would be traumatising for anyone.
[ SOUL CAMPAIGN SECTION ]
What abilities will your character retain in Soul Campaign?
The levelheadedness, the skills and knowledge he has... everything, really, except for the hax physical stats.
What weaknesses will your character lose or gain in Soul Campaign?
He'll no longer retain his appearance just by willing it! Hah. Well, besides being completely out of his water due to several levels of culture shock, not much, but it likely will take quite some time for him to acclimatize.
The wish Death the Kid made to the BREW in 2009 was to “rescue Death City and stop the waves of Madness from overtaking the world.” By whatever means necessary. Pretend you are the BREW. Why would you choose to bring this character to Death City?
He's a good person, a good fighter, and would be willing to provide help for Shibusen. Besides this, he already knows what it's like to have essentially your whole world threatened, which will likely motivate him into action, and he might even motivate others through his example. He's also relatively easy to resonate with.
[ WEAPON ONLY SECTION ]
Why is your character a Weapon and not a Meister?
It's not that I feel he could not be a Meister, I'm sure he could, but rather, it's because being a Weapon would be easier for him.
Ferio I feel would be a Weapon primarily because of his role in canon: while proactive, as seen when he tries to become a Magic Knight himself, he has no problem whatsoever with letting someone else take the lead, or spotlight, or task at hand. He doesn't do much to fulfill his role as prince, because he never felt it was necessary. There's no use for him to try and govern the country when everything is perfectly at peace, and while there are surely many more knowledgable officials who could do it in his place. He acts as bodyguard to Hikaru, Umi and Fuu, but only upon Fuu's suggestion. Throughout the series, he is never the one who calls the shots.
I also feel that he would help a Meister struggling with the Madness Wavelength, because his levelheadedness is one of his strengths.
What is your character’s Weapon Form? Why?
Demon Sword. A really, really big one, estimate 6' length in all, straight, double-edged blade, with a slim guard in the shape of wings spreading upwards toward the tip.
While he weilds a sword in canon, this isn't nearly what it looks like. In fact, it's a lot more like Fuu's blade, but not quite that, either. The sword is still the only type of weapon I can associate with him, because it's the weapon he knows best. The only other object associated with him in canon is a ring, and while that would be a fun challenge to think of Weapon abilities for, Ferio is quite the muggle in the end, so a classic weapon suits him fine.
What is your character’s Weapon Ability?
[under reconstruction but essentially:
basic resonance to lift the freaking thing.
advanced resonance: creates weightless armor around the Meister.
very advanced resonance+advanced swordfighting skills: wind-based bonus damage/extended strikes]
[ SOUL INFORMATION ]
Describe your character’s soul with six adjectives.
Casual, chipper, levelheaded, thoughtful, courageous, noble.
What does your character’s soul look like? Be creative.
Amber coloured with a friendly smile, retaining his scars and the small ponytail in the back.

[A teen's face comes into view, with a mess of green hair and amber eyes. Despite the scars on his cheek and across his nose, he doesn't seem menacing. In fact, he looks pretty friendly.]
Oh, is this...? Ah. [He scratches the back of his head and gives a quiet sheepish laugh.]
Sorry, this doesn't work like anything I've ever seen. Anyway, hello.
My name is Ferio. I'm one of the new arrivals, and I'm from a country called Cefiro. Never been to Earth before, although we've had visitors, I hope you won't mind me asking about things around here once in a while.
Ah... I was told that I am now a Weapon of some kind, and before you ask, I've been advised against throwing myself down a flight of stairs to find out what my shape is.
That's all, I think?
[He flashes another smile, and after a bit of fumbling, both audio and then video shut off.]
Provide a Third Person sample set during the last minutes on their world and/or their first few moments in the Kishin Chamber (http://soul-mods.dreamwidth.org/3401.html).
He clearly wasn't in Cefiro anymore. That much he knew from the moment he opened his eyes: it was too dark for him to be where he had been only moments before, but he didn't entertain the notion that it might just be a very vivid dream (and not only because he never dreamt when he fell asleep with his head on his arms on top of paperwork). Too gritty, too real, too tangible. Looking around, he saw all sorts of other, similarly disoriented people. His brow furrowing, Ferio rose, acutely that with his white robes he stuck out like a sore thumb in the dark surroundings, ready for an attack, but not waiting for it. Instead, he approached the nearest fellow kidnapee, helping him to his feet. Naturally, he had no better idea where they were. With a polite smile and a thank you, Ferio left him be.
It didn't strike him as altogether productive to make rounds asking even more people, as they all seemed to be either confused, upset, or angry in varying degrees, so they obviously had no more of a clue. Instead, Ferio paid careful attention to the ones less lucky than he. There were injured people here as well, and with them all stuck here together, helping one another was their best bet. Not to mention, it was the right thing to do.
In the privacy of his mind, behind the calming tone and tentative humour, Ferio wished that Fuu were there as well. Little good did that do, though, the wishing, so he decided to focus instead on the issue at hand. Who or what had brought them here?
